Job Description:
The Service Tech Chimp will be responsible for scheduling appointments with end-users to troubleshoot and/or repair their systems. This position will travel to client locations as needed for diagnosis and installation, primarily locally. When not needed for service calls, the Service Tech Chimp may be utilized for installation prep, retail store assistance, or other projects as assigned.
Key Responsibilities:
Interact directly with end-users to gather information necessary to resolve system issues effectively and efficiently
Utilize knowledge of equipment and documentation to test, calibrate, troubleshoot, and maintain installed lighting and audiovisual systems and equipment
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and maintain installed lighting and audiovisual systems and equipment consistent with company best practices and industry standards
Document findings and scope of work completed; invoice clients
Provide preventative maintenance services for various system types and locations
Be or become an ETC Authorized Service Provider (company would pay for this training)
Be able to troubleshoot basic lighting, audio & video system issues
Be or become trained in Q-SYS, Symetrix, Biamp,Crestron, and/or other systems as needed (company would pay for this training)
Assist with prepping gear for installation (unboxing, assembly, preprogramming)
When there is a lull in client requests, you may be asked to assist in the warehouse, repair shop, or retail store on various projects as needed
Skills/Qualifications:
Hands-on industry experience in system setup & troubleshooting
Well-rounded knowledge of industry lighting, audio, & video
Prefer knowledge of architectural controls
Must have a valid driver’s licence and willingness to travel to client sites
Competent in signal flow and troubleshooting
Strict adherence to industry safety
Familiarity with soldering, use of standard tools, and generally assembly techniques
Knowledge of multimeters, oscilloscopes, and signal generators preferred
Strong understanding of control protocols such as DMX, sACN, ArtNet, RDM, and other protocols
Proficient knowledge of computers and networking
Ability to work alone
Ability to interact with customers
Ability to travel on occasion
Must be ok with heights and occasional work on a lift or ladder
Must be able to lift 50lbs
The store is open weekdays 9-6, this position will be working 8 hours per day (9-5 or 10-6), 40 hours per week, except for holiday closures.
Benefits:
This is a full-time salary position, $55k-$75k
